Borussia Dortmund have secured their place in the Bundesliga top three after beating Eintracht Frankfurt by a single goal at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.

The match was a closely contested affair with both sides creating numerous chances but it was Borussia who ultimately came out victorious.

In the 55th minute, BVB forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it 1-0 for his side with a well-taken header from a corner kick. The result was all the more impressive given that Aubameyang had missed two penalty kicks earlier in the season.

Eintracht Frankfurt fought back and levelled the score in the 68th minute through a goal from Christian Stuani. However, BVB were not to be denied as they scored again in the 79th minute courtesy of a stunning strike from substitute Nemanja Matic.

With this win, Borussia Dortmund remain firmly entrenched in third place in the table, just one point behind second-placed RB Leipzig. The victory also ensures that they will play in Europe next season, although the path to qualification is far from easy.

Overall, it was another solid performance from BVB, who continue to show why they are considered one of the best teams in Germany. With a strong squad and some key players in form, they should go into the winter break confident of maintaining their position in the top three.
