Monaco have continued their impressive start to the Ligue 1 season, defeating Reims by two goals to one at Stade Louis II on Saturday evening.

The game was full of excitement from start to finish as both sides put in a strong performance. Monaco started brightly, creating numerous chances for themselves but it wasn't until the 27th minute that they broke the deadlock through a goal from Brazilian winger Raul Albiol. The midfielder played a perfect cross into the box which was met by defender Mathieu Debuchy who headed home from close range.

Reims responded immediately though, with substitute forward Jérémy Morel equalizing just three minutes later. However, Monaco didn't let this setback affect them and continued to create more chances. They were finally rewarded for their efforts in the 68th minute when French striker Benjamin Pavard scored his first goal for the club, heading in a corner after good work from winger Bernardo Silva.

The second half saw Monaco continue to dominate proceedings, with the hosts creating further opportunities before scoring their second goal of the night in the 84th minute. Midfielder Benjamin Mendy made no mistake with a simple header from a cross by Silva, sending the ball into the back of the net.

Reims were unable to find any late consolation, leaving Monaco with all three points. The victory moves Monaco up to third place in the table, while Reims slip down to seventh. Both teams will be looking to build on their results as they prepare for the next round of fixtures.
