Mac Allister, the Argentine midfielder who joined Brighton from Rangers in January 2019, has extended his contract at the club until the summer of 2027.

The 26-year-old had been linked with a move away from the Seagulls, but he has now put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the Amex Stadium until June 2027.

Allister, who has made over 50 appearances for Brighton since joining from Argentina's Boca Juniors, said: "I'm really happy to have signed this extension. I've loved my time here so far and it's great to be able to continue playing for such a fantastic club."

Manager Graham Potter was also delighted by Allister's decision to extend his stay at the Amex Stadium.

"We're all delighted for Mac," he said. "He's a player we know very well and he brings a lot to our team. He's an important member of the squad and I'm sure he'll continue to perform well for us in the future."

Allister's signing was one of the highlights of the transfer window last year as he helped Brighton finish fifth in the Premier League table and reach the Europa Conference League semi-finals.

His recent contract extension is another sign of the club's commitment to developing their young talent and keeping key players like Allister, who is just 26 years old, at the Amex Stadium. It also shows that the club is investing in its youth system and giving young players a chance to develop and make an impact in the first team.
